1978 Phillips Soccer Football League 134 card complete set 43 years old EX+

  

This set includes all of the team checklists plus an additional competition entry card that was also common at the time. All up this set includes the 120 player cards, plus 13 team checklists, plus competition entry card. Please note that not all edges and corners are 100% sharp and the cards have the natural patina from 1978. They are though in excellent condition for their age, many cards are at some level of mint condition.

They have sat untouched in a small wooden suitcase, forgotten for decades in a wardrobe. Please note that at age 8 I thought it was wise to mark off each player as I collected their card!

Unlike the NSWRL at the time, Newcastle had a soccer team and I remember going to all of the home games to see Newcastle United or KB United as they were known at the time. Home games were at International Sports Centre, the ground now known as Marathon Stadium. At the time it was all hill except for a single stand that backed onto the entry carpark. KB was a Toothes beer brand that sponsored the team. Locally, kids like us used to call it kids beer.

I traded a lot of cards at the home games that year, also at school, at soccer training, and soccer matches on weekends. Please do look at the pictures to confirm the condition. I don't think complete sets of these cards, in this condition, will come up often. They are rare and hopefully will go to a fan. The competition card did not seem to last and is quite rare.

For the folk who have been watching this listing, please accept my apology for this re-listing. This has meant that all followers have dropped off.

This set of soccer cards is one the cleanest sets that I have. I also understand that they are very rare. I personally have never seen a full set for sale.

Offers will be seriously considered. May I add that the original Star Wars cards I have online are also pretty awesome and in well above average condition. Actually much much better than average as depicted. All of my cards were.
